What's so great about Office 2010?

Three things come to mind: ribbon toolbar, web storage and web apps.

It was pretty goofy that in Office 2007 the ribbon toolbar didn't apply to Outlook. Now the ribbon toolbar is found in all Office apps.

Options on the file menu have returned such as "save and send" which now allows you to save the document to the Web, which will put it in your Windows Live account.

You need to set up a free Windows Live account to use this feature, but you get a generous 25 GB of cloud storage. You can save the file for private or public access. Even if you don't have Office 2010, you can get this feature by going to http://skydrive.live.com.

With web apps, free scaled down versions of Office will be available in June. Scaled-down versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel will be available when you have a live internet connection. For example, you could create an excel spreadsheet with basic functionality on the Web, then edit it by clicking on "open with Excel".

Please leave a comment and let me know if you plan on upgrading to Office 2010 and why.
